Strategy 01
WayUP Capital BTC
Actively managed long-only BTC strategy
Strategy 1 is the conservative core of the WayUP fund. It holds spot Bitcoin exclusively in an environment of loose liquidity and rising risk appetite, and moves into USDC as soon as it identifies a shift into a RISK-OFF phase. No leverage. No derivatives.
Track record 1/2024–7/2026 (reconstruction)
Strategy return
+254.0%
1/2024–7/2026, passive BTC +51.2%. 2024 +154.74%, 2025 +38.98%, 2026 in cash (USDC). After fees +215.5%.
Maximum drawdown
−20.7%
Passive BTC holding declined by −53.1% over the same period
CAGR
+65.0%
Volatility 32.6% p.a.
Decision process
Seven layers behind every decision
If the thesis fails at any layer, the capital we manage stays in cash (USDC).
- 01
Macroeconomic conditions
The availability of money in the economy opens room to enter the market, while its shortage is a signal to exit and move into cash (USDC). We work with indicators that give us an advance read on changes in the volume of money available in the economy.
- 02
On-chain data
Directly from the blockchain we read the actual moves of large institutional investors. We can see whether wallets with high volumes and frequent activity are accumulating BTC or sending it to crypto exchanges to sell. By tracking flows of USDC and other stablecoins we can then determine how much cash large investors have ready to deploy into BTC.
- 03
Market cyclicality and historical parallels
Which part of the repeating cycle BTC is in, i.e. whether we are approaching a bottom or a top.
- 04
BTC risk metrics
Whether the valuation relative to cycle history is still attractive for buying, or the market is overheated and it is time to realise gains.
- 05
Investor sentiment
Prevailing fear tends to be a buying opportunity, euphoria a signal to exit. When everyone is talking about BTC, its price is usually near the current top.
- 06
Buy and sell zones
We track the price band our investment is in. That tells us whether it is an accumulation band, where large institutional investors are buying, or a distribution band, where they are selling. We time our steps accordingly.
- 07
Execution and position management
We buy in one go or gradually in tranches, keeping a reserve for a deeper decline. We hold the position through ordinary corrections; when the market regime turns, we sell the entire position into USDC.
Risk management
Maximum drawdown of the WayUP Capital BTC strategy to date
The difference between simply holding crypto-assets and actively managing them shows up most clearly in the depth of the drawdown. It is not only about how much unrealised profit an investor builds during the growth phase, but above all about how much of it they actually keep — and whether they exit the market at the right moment.
- Basket of 11 altcoins (excl. BTC/ETH/SOL)¹−79.5%
- ETH + SOL basket−58.2%
- BTC (passive)−53.1%
- WayUP Capital TOP100 strategy−23.6%
- WayUP Capital BTC strategy−20.7%
Our active management fell 2.5× to 3.5× less than the market.
¹ Real daily prices, period 1/2024–7/2026 (basket peak 12/2024). Basket = equally weighted 11 largest crypto-assets excluding BTC, ETH and SOL (XRP, ADA, DOGE, AVAX, LINK, DOT, LTC, BCH, XLM, HBAR, ATOM). Average maximum drawdown −79.5%.
CAPITAL PROTECTION
Security above all
The management of investments is set up so that we cannot, in the ordinary course, unilaterally transfer crypto-assets outside the secured infrastructure of the Coinmate platform.
01
Crypto-assets cannot ordinarily be withdrawn directly
A special security mode is set on our account blocking standard withdrawals of crypto-assets to external wallets. A direct withdrawal of crypto-assets is possible only in a wholly exceptional situation defined by the custody agreement between the manager (us) and the Coinmate platform, and requires both:
- a) a written request from 2 executive directors of the manager with a detailed justification of the situation,
- b) subsequent manual approval by an authorised person of the Coinmate platform.
02
We handle crypto-assets on the Coinmate platform
All crypto-assets are always held in custody with the Coinmate platform.
03
Standard exit only via bank account
The ordinary way of paying out an investment is the sale of crypto-assets for fiat currency on the Coinmate platform and the subsequent withdrawal of fiat to the manager's verified bank account. Only from there does the manager pay the redeemed investment directly to the investor in line with the contractual documentation.
IDEAL INVESTOR
Who the strategies are designed for
01
An investor with no time for their own analysis
They have neither the time nor capacity to continuously analyse individual projects and the whole market, but want professionally managed crypto-asset exposure in their portfolio.
02
An investor whose portfolio lacks a high-potential component
They are looking for a riskier component with a higher return potential.
03
An experienced investor looking to complement their approach
They already hold crypto-assets and want to complement their own approach with an actively managed strategy.
